The Naar house has a HERS rating of 4 and received a Gold rating for Energy Star and Healthy Built Home Certification. Healthy Built Homes created a new Platinum category due to this home exceeding the Gold standard.
The exterior utilized low maintenance stucco combined with poplar bark siding and stone. The Venetian-plastered interior walls were made from natural limestone and marble dust offers stunning depth and luminous shine. It is also highly breathable and eco-friendly.
The main heat source comes from a geo-thermal heat pump that offers a highly efficient heating and cooling system that moves heat to and from the ground rather than using outside air. By utilzing the relatively stable, moderate temperature of the shallow earth, it provides year-round comfort while drastically reducing energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional HVAC systems.
